Meet. Share. Do
On the Table is a one-day opportunity to gather over mealtime conversations to build personal connections and explore how we can work together to make our communities stronger.
Hosted with support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, On the Table replicates an annual civic engagement initiative of the same name developed by The Chicago Community Trust in 2014.
The next day of conversations will be on October 22, 2019! We invite you and your families, neighbors, colleagues, and friends —old and new— to pull up a chair, share a meal, and discuss the ways in which we — as individuals and as a collective — can, and do, work to make our communities stronger.
Our inaugural day of conversations was held in 2018 with the following results:
250 conversations held in one day
1,500 participants made their voices heard
71% spoke with at least one person they did not already know
89% said they will likely take specific action on an issue they discussed at On the Table
Following the day of conversations, participants were asked to take a survey to provide a deeper understanding of the issues they deemed most important to our community. The survey was conducted online by Hart Research Associates and Public Opinion Strategies. The results of the survey can be found at OnTheTableCola.org.
